5 Essential Oils For A Healthier You

Happy New Year! I hope you had a good one and enjoyed the time with friends and family over Christmas and New Year. So who's doing Dry January or some sort of detox? Whilst I'm not doing a detox as such, I am trying to focus on giving myself a boost. If you're feeling a bit sluggish after weeks of overindulging, cranking the central heating up and battling the cold weather then it's no surprise our bodies are probably a little worse for wear. If like me, you feel like it's time to give your body a break, there are loads of essential oils that can help cleanse your liver and lymphatic system.


Being aware of just how beneficial essential oils can be, when I started this business I vowed to only ever use pure essential oils to sent my candles. I'm not a trained aromatherapist but I've learnt a lot about the different types of oils you can use to enhance your well being.

LAVENDER

Lavender essential oil has a calming scent, which makes it an excellent tonic for the nerves. The refreshing aroma removes nervous exhaustion and restlessness. Having a restful night's sleep is key to helping the body to detox so this is a great oil to add to your bath along with some Epsom Salts.


LEMON

This citrus oil stimulates white blood cells to defend the body against infection. Its detoxifying and regenerating properties are beneficial for the liver and aid in bringing clarity to the mind and emotions.

Try drinking a glass of warm water with a slice of lemon first thing in the morning to kickstart your digestive system. Lemon juice helps flush out unwanted materials in part because lemons increase the rate of urination in the body. Therefore toxins are released at a faster rate which helps keep your urinary tract healthy. The citric acid in lemons helps maximize enzyme function, which stimulates the liver and aids in detoxification.

GRAPEFRUIT

Grapefruit is antiviral, antiseptic, diuretic, and can aid the digestive system and skin. It refreshes the mind and relieves anxiety. I've teamed Grapefruit with Mandarin and Lime, a delicious blend of citrus oils that are uplifting and energising.


JUNIPER

Juniper berries have been used to cleanse, purify and eliminate since ancient times. Emotionally, Juniper oil is calming and helps to ease stress. Burning a candle like my Ginger and Juniper Berry can help to cleanse and purifiy the air.




LEMONGRASS

Lemongrass is a lovely sweet exotic scent and can help drainage within the body. With calming Lavender, my Lemongrass and Lavender candle is a natural insect repellent too.




It's worth mentioning that I'm not an essential oils expert! These are just some of my favourites but please talk to your doctor before using essential oils if you’re pregnant.
